#TBT - JEROME LOL + SWITCH + ACID GIRLS = LEGENDARY HOMIES

Sup fools, it's GLENJAMN aka the "Cultural Historian"  reminiscing about another tite time when I kicked it at The Well before there even was The Well LA.  Since I got a rad reception w/ my 1st #TBT post, I'm gonna go in again.  So, lemme go and share a rad moment with y'all via photos and/or videos (b/c God gave me two hands for two cameras)...

I think all this happened on a hot ass summer LA night July 1st, 2011...

KABLAM. I'm gonna always hit you with a video when I start my #TBT posts b/c I personally need to at least watch one of these vids to re-feel-out the vibes from that night.

Ahhh yes, now I'm starting to remember what the fuck went down that night... A bunch of homies had gathered at my old loft in Echo Park earlier in the day and said that some shit was going down at the OG Well LA spot near the Shrine Auditorium via some texts from Jefferson or whatnot.  So, yeah, the above video is some footage of the OG Lol Boys' Jerome before he was Jerome LOL and before he met Samo Sound Boy and became DJDS aka DJDODGERSTADIUM and wayyyyyy before he got called up by YE to help polish up The Life of Pablo.  YOU GET ALL THAT?  So, yeah back in 2011, Jerome was playing that {flame emoji} FIRE {flame emoji} Lol Boys' Edit of Jodie - Moments in Heartbreak at the Well party and I'm listening to it right now while I'm typing out this post.  So yeah, what a timeless tune.   Watch the vid and see the homies get lit to a timeless tune w/ Jerome down to the last 2 buttons of his shirt.

Day one homies.

Day one homies.

PS: This is the same dude that crashed on my couch after nights of him vs OG Four Loko formula.  Anyhow, this was when I started to believe that this dude was gonna be the future of music.  Guess what, I was right ;)  Here's another vid of the homie before he was on Kanye's speed dial ;)

Anyhow, I love this dude b/c he's been a homie ever since he used to fool people into thinking he was Busy P's nephew back in the day when he was a resident at Snake Mountain with my current roommate in 2011, Jamie from the OGs of blog house, THE MOTHAFUCKIN ACID GIRLS (click on that hyperlink b/c the blogspot still works and it feels like a time machine). Lucky for you, the both Jamie and Greg aka ACID GIRLS spun at the same party, so before I go into why these dudes were/are tite, lemme flash this vid.

Even though they don't really spin as much as they used to, the ACID GIRLS were dudes that were so full of musical knowledge nerdery, that they were the GO-TO dudes on blogspot that actually documented the sounds of the scene before Pitchfork got all mainstream and shit.  Anyways, I love these dudes and I hope they come back and spin a vibey party juan day soon :)

This is how I remember the Acid Girls.  A lot of Greg-talk and Jamie side-eye.

So yeah, this #TBT post is actually getting me super nostalgic b/c it was just super vibey and from a time when I was starting to become homies that are still, to this day, my homies.  Speaking of homies, another tight homie that rolled through the party to spin was not just a homie, but a legendary homie.  I think I said homie like 6 times. 7 times.   Anyhow, here's a vid of said legendary homie. 8 times.

So yeah, the dude that I'm speaking of his the fucking legend, Dave Taylor aka Switch.  You know, the dude that produced a bunch of amazing albums like this one for MIA or you know, co-created Major Lazer w/ the Dipmeister or for being one of the dudes that put me on and brought me along for some of the most amazing musical moments that I can't even share in this post.  But yeah, Dave was there and so was his bro, Danny and the rest of the homies.  Switch is a musical genius/madman and the video above just represents a crazy dude playing something he made like a couple of hours ago at home and was trying it out b/c he liked this one Chris Brown song.  He's the legend and he the homie.

OK, now I'm gonna skip to the portion where it's me reminscing certain moments and homies that I still know popping up in these random photos from a random sweaty night in 2011.  So, yeah, whatever.

Jerome is down to his last button.  Switch always with the nice, clean button ups.

OK, so yeah, I'm stoned, my mind is trapped in 2011 memories, and I'm tired as fuck.  I hope you enjoyed this trip down memory lane or whatever.

I'll hit you with some more Gold next month.
